Di sana mereka, serupa.
Membuat pertanyaan-pertanyaan serupa.
Mengharapkan jawaban serupa.
Rupamu sama, manipulasi, tumbuh.

Intimate Partner Violence

The one you love, you beat. – proverb, Sweden

More than a third of all women in the world are subjected to physical or sexual violence during their lifetime. The most common type is Intimate Partner Violence (IPV) which one out of three women have to suffer. No country, and no economical class or age is exempted; and it has dire effects. Depression, alcohol abuse, sexually transmitted diseases and physical injuries are merely part of the outcome.

About the project

Cause of Death: Woman is a unique investigative report on violence against women in the world, describing atrocities ranging from Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) and acid attacks to more hidden types like psychological and physical violence between partners and rape.

Between 2010 and 2012 Linda Forsell documented the situation in ten countries together with reporters Karin Alfredsson and Kerstin Weigl. The countries included in the project are the USA, South Africa, Egypt, Sweden, Pakistan, Mexico, Brazil, Congo, Spain and Russia.

The primary result of the work is www.causeofdeathwoman.com, an open resource for anyone who is interested, but with large focus on reaching out through organizations, schools, workshops and lectures around the world.

1. South Africa: The first time Elizabeth’s boyfriend beat her she was 16. Her boyfriend used to say to her: “You’re a dog. How can you expect anyone to love you when even your own mother doesn’t?”

2. Russia: Svetlana is forced to live with her husband that she has filed a lawsuit against for abusing her. The situation is common in Russia where housing is extremely scarce.

3. Sweden.

4. Brazil: Rosangela says she has survived twice. First when her husband threw petrol over her and set her alight – and then the negligence at the hospital.

War (Mexico - Ciudad Juarez)

In Mexico the war is of a different sort. The so-called “war on drugs” plays out between powerful drug cartels that the police and military try to confine but usually end up becoming a part of. Women are under serious attack. Brutal women’s killings, kidnappings and rapes have skirted the path of drugs. Young girls have been found dead in barrels of acid, mutilated with breast ripped off or abducted to be found dead a month later in the desert.

Pratt & Whitney R-4360 “Corncob” Engine

Take a look at the world’s LARGEST internal combustion aircraft engine! This is the Pratt & Whitney R-4360 Wasp Major—and believe it or not, this is the world’s largest piston-engine aircraft power plant to achieve production status. Used to power heavy bombers, flying boats, tankers and cargo aircraft in the 1940s and 1950s—including the famous “Spruce Goose”— the “Corncob” was both powerful and relatively reliable. Though turbine engines have proven lighter and can produce greater thrust (especially as most require no propeller), piston engines—like those in most cars—are actually quite fuel-efficient, and can be very powerful. Internal combustion engines of this size, however, are built to contain and harness thousands of fuel / air “explosions” each minute—and as a result they are extremely heavy and complex. Look at this engine—now nearly seventy years old—and imagine the sheer power of this thing. To make it easier, imagine that it would take ten new cars and trucks lined up side by side—and another row of ten behind that—to produce the equivalent power of this one engine. All of this without a radiator, too—it’s air-cooled! Just don’t try to change the spark plugs by yourself.

Why Buying a Battery-Assisted Hybrid is Better Than Buying a Plug-in Electric Vehicle

amoebamike:

After studying the life cycle of electrified cars — from the first moment of raw material mining to the final day in the car’s life — Michalek and fellow researchers have concluded that hybrids with smaller batteries pollute less than pure EVs.”

Agree!! Pure hybrids vehicle needs bigger electric motor, also bigger battery pack. Traction force would be hard, in idle mode. And takes more power in starting, acceleration, etc.

Losses are everywhere.

Electric Cars Long Term Battery Considerations

Electric Cars Long Term Battery and Ownership Issues

Electric cars have been a common sight on the road for several…

I prever Lead-Acid battery, for city driving and small car. Cheaper and good for starting, plus gives more power for acceleration ;)
